Hylec-APL launches the only in-line connector box you will ever need, at LuxLive 2014

Hylec-APL took advantage of LuxLive, the UK’s best trade show for the lighting industry, to launch its latest product to the market. The DEBOX junction box is designed and manufactured by Hylec-APL and offers users faster and more efficient installation than the current leading competitors. Hylec-APL already offers the fastest IP68 connection solutions on the market for outdoor lighting applications, the DEBOX offers similar benefits for internal installations.

Mark Severn, Director of Sales for Hylec-APL, comments: “The lighting industry is an extremely important market for us and LuxLive is always the best opportunity to meet the key decision makers and introduce them to our product range. This year we are extremely happy to be launching a brand new product which we believe offers faster, simpler, and therefore cheaper, installation than the market’s leading junction box.

Hylec-APL is well respected within the lighting industry and has been involved in supplying solutions for high-profile applications in the UK and worldwide. The recently opened Birmingham Library benefits from hundreds of Hylec-APL’s TeePlug connectors, while other products from its portfolio have been used to help light the Singapore Grand Prix as well as the Cannes Film Festival.

The DEBOX features a registered design which is intended to maximise efficiency at every stage of installation. Unlike competitor products, each junction box is supplied as standard with a 4 Pole terminal block which is secured on a push fit mounting pole. It is constructed from polypropylene UL94V-0 and is virtually tool-less; only a screwdriver is needed to close the terminal screws – though IDT terminals can be used to completely eliminate the need for tools.

A ratchet arm is used to secure the cable within the junction box, which allows it to accommodate both flat and round cable whilst still producing cable retention. A fixing pin is used in place of a screw, clipping the lid in place quickly and efficiently. Finally, two mounting ears are included which allow the DEBOX to be securely fastened in place, relieving tension from the cables.

The DEBOX has been launched to complement the already extensive range of lighting components available from Hylec-APL which include enclosures, control stations, switches, relays, lamps and waterproof connectors. It is Hylec’s philosophy to offer problem solving solutions which can create long term savings through premium performance.

For example, the Hylec-APL Tee family range of waterproof in-line connectors, plug and socket connectors and junction boxes use a dome topped cable gland to secure and IP68 connection in a matter of minutes. Thanks to a unique design which incorporates the terminals as part of the housing, the newest products, the Micro TeeTube and Micro TeePlug, boast diameters that are no larger than that of a one pound coin.

For many years Hylec-APL has been providing guidance to the lighting industry on the best components for secure, fast and reliable connections. Its sales engineers have worked on projects of all sizes for use in all conditions. If you missed the team at the exhibition you can find them online at www.hylec-apl.com.
