UK electrical and electronic component suppliers join forces to create single source of supply and launch new products

Hylec Components and Andromeda Products Limited, two established UK names in bulk electrical and electronic component supply have merged brands to become Hylec-APL. The move provides both sets of customers with the convenience of a consolidated product offering, potentially reduced purchasing costs, and the addition of several new lines of components and accessories including LED’s, switches, connectors, terminals and enclosures.

Hylec-APL MD Chris D’Arcy comments, ‘The industry has been in convergence for some time, with many traditional Hylec customers used to buying essential electrical and electromechanical products such as glands, grommets, cable connectors etc. now buying PCB mounted electrical components from the APL range and vice versa it made sense to draw the two businesses together. We have simplified the buying decision for customers, and created the opportunity to approach new customers with a broader product offering. The market for electronic components is also growing rapidly, hence we are launching several new ranges including the new generation of LEDs, displays, micro switches, terminal blocks and relays.’

In addition to increased product availability, bringing the two companies closer together will reduce the administration cost of purchasing for customers that have previously purchased from both companies. Following the lead of automotive and white goods manufacturers, supplier consolidation continues to be seen by customers as a way of reducing overheads and focussing on core business strengths, hence manufacturers and distributors alike are now sourcing more products from one supplier whenever possible. Hylec-APL has simply made this easier to do.

Hylec-APL also includes the CEL Electronics distribution business, recently merged into the company and formerly based locally at Leyland Trading Estate, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. C.E.L Electronics specialised in the supply of board mounted components such as buzzers, LEDs, connectors, relays, fuses, fuseholders and switches. CEL customers are now benefiting from greater administrative and logistics resources available from Hylec-APL in addition to increased stock and sales support.

Recently introduced brands to the Hylec-APL range include LED products from Kingbright, switches from Cherry, all weather electrical enclosures from Spelsberg, innovative click-seal cable entries from TST and economy component ranges from Tianli and Sanyou including PCB terminals and relays through to buzzers from Xichun.

Many items offered by Hylec-APL are available direct from UK stock with specific packaging and supply logistics available for JIT and KANBAN production systems. Barcode batch packaging and loose bin supply options are also available.
